I had to kind of do a double-take when I realized DA just introduced this feature.

You know, there was a time when I wanted to change my name to ANYTHING other than SonicRocksMySocks. I thought it up when I was 15 without realizing I'd be saddled with that alias for potentially a lifetime.

When I started gaining renown on the internet, there was even a time where I considered making a new DeviantArt account JUST to change my username, but by then my reputation was already cemented. It's silly and childish and doesn't fit a 20-something artist who is trying to get serious about her art...

However...

After working on my 8th DeviantArt anniversary flash and going back to my roots, it sort of dawned on me.

No other username fits me better.

Maybe I was embarrassed of it for a time, but now, after 8 years, there's no way in hell I'd ever be anybody else. My art is ABOUT childhood and youthful spirit, and that's what I remember when I think of my nickname. It reminds me of where I came from, and that no matter how old I get, I'll never forget to reflect that in my artwork. It's what got me where I am today.

That being said?

I think "SonicRocksMySocks" is a keeper.
